“The United States became again part of the transatlantic partnership, but Europe has never left and we are pleased that security becomes now once again the anchor of the transatlantic cooperation, which will become the cornerstone of global stability,” the European Commission Vice President, Margaritis Schinas, told a news conference, after the EU-US Ministerial Conference on Justice and Home Affairs, in Lisbon.
On top of that, Margaritis Schinas noted that the EU and the US share “the same values, the same principles, the same model of society and the same ambitions to forge a win-win partnership on the issues we discussed today, such as cybersecurity, immigration, crime and civil society, as well”.
“Transatlantic cooperation must have human-centered components and there is no better way to express this than to move forward in areas such as easing travel restrictions after the pandemic. Europe is the most vaccinated continent in the world. “We have a common European certificate that opens the door to mobility, consisting a way to go back to normal life” he said.
