Greek Tourism Minister Haris Theoharis on Monday attempted to paint a somewhat more positive “picture” of the situation for the eponymous holiday island of Mykonos, saying there are “not more cancellations than in previous days”.
His comment came two days after Greek civil protection authorities ordered a 1 a.m. to 6 a.m. curfew for the jet-setting isle, as well as a ban on music for establishments, especially bars and clubs.
“Safety is at the center of the government’s policy … the government is doing all it can so that measures are complied with … our first priority is the health of citizens, and we’re not afraid to take tough measures,” he said.
