Fires – The commander of the Army Air Force resigned

The commander of the Army Air Force, Giorgos Koumentakos, submitted his resignation at noon on Monday, in the aftermath of the catastrophic fires in the country.

According to information from MEGA channel, in the last few hours a carousel of search and blame concerning aerial fire fighting means has been launched and an attempt is being lay the blame on the lower ranks of the administrative pyramid.

It is noted that Mr. Koumentakos is responsible for the Chinook helicopters being used in the fires.

At present, however, it is not known whether his resignation has been accepted.

According to sources, the General Armed Forces was convened earlier by General Konstantinos Floros, head of the General Staff of the National Defense, a supreme military council to determine whether there are responsibilities regarding the involvement of Chinook military helicopters in extinguishing the fire.
