With fresh memories of their tragic experiences when the conflagration destroyed property and threatened their lives, the people of Evia are determined to rebuild what they lost.
At the same time, experts stress the need for rapid execution of the necessary flood protection works so that the winter rains do not complete the disaster.
Shocking descriptions
In the exclusive video documentary from Agia Anna, Christina Tzafa, a resident of the area, sees the fire approaching the houses and the beach where dozens of residents and tourists are.
“We are in a state of emergency. We are burning Holy Mother, we are burning! Jesus Christ. Everything, everything caught fire. Everyone back.”
The inhabitants are desperate, they ask the Virgin Mary to help them.
“The situation here is mournful; only that so many houses around were burned”
The fire in Agia Anna passed the village and reached the beach, while in the video documents the cries of the people who were trying to be saved.
Speaking to MEGA channel, Ms. Tzafa said she shot the video because she believed it would be the last time something was recorded in the area.
“I thought we would die, either from the flames or from the smoke”
Making puddles in the sand to find coolness and water to avoid burns….

Mr. Giannis’ business turned to ashes. He rented bicycles for a beautiful ride among the pines and the beach. But everything was set on fire. Even the frames of the bicycles melted.
He promises to make it even better by next summer.
