“There may be a macroeconomic stabilization, but there are also some microeconomic concerns,” said Emmanuel Vlachogiannis, vice-president of the Thessaloniki Chamber of Commerce and Industry (TCCI), speaking at the OT stand at the 85th Thessaloniki International Fair.

He added that “We call for better market and trade conditions and for better conditions in the manufacturing industry.”

The vice-president of the TCCI stressed that there are many factors that affect the economy, and the pandemic changed a lot of thing in our lives. For this reason, the existing support measures are not enough and new measures are required. The prime minister’s announcements showed that the government has some concerns on this issue and a new strategy to reorganize the economy.

When asked, he also added that there is great uncertainty on the markets. Entrepreneurs cannot predict what will happen in the future. As Mr. Vlachogiannis characteristically said, there is potential in the economy but there are also concerns on how the small and medium enterprises will survive in the new economic environment.
