Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis on Tuesday pointed to what he called a significant increase in exports from Greece, speaking at a presentation of a national strategic plan towards a more extroverted economy, held at the Hellenic Cosmos Cultural Center in Athens.

“This is the best proof that export numbers serve as a mirror of an economy’s competitiveness,” he said, pointing to an increase even amid the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic.

Extroversion means creating wealth that’s then shared by Greek society, a key aspect of the government’s economic policy, he said, while adding that growth spread across the social spectrum reduces social inequalities and creates opportunities for those who need them most.

Another factor reversing so-called “brain drain” is creating better paying jobs, he said.

In continuing to burnish his government pro-business credential, Mitsotakis said  foreign investors now see in Greece a long-term potential for added-value investments, based on the prospect of dynamic growth within a stable fiscal environment
