The Greek government will reportedly request that a first installment of funding from the EU’s recovery and resilience fund be approved in roughly 20 days, in order for disbursement to come in the first quarter of 2022.

According to reports from the Greek capital, Athens has reportedly met 15 prerequisites required by the EU Commission in order to submit such a request.

An accelerated time-table for receiving the first instalment, worth 3.5 billion euros, comes on the heels of Wednesday’s announcement of the first 12 projects in Greece that will be financed by the Covid-19 recovery fund, all together budgeted at 1.42 billion euros.

A total of 48 projects submitted by Athens have been tentatively approved by the Commission, with a total budget of 2.76 billion euros.
