Hilton and Ionian Hotel Enterprises on Tuesday announced an agreement that, among others, will change the name of the iconic Athens Hilton into Conrad.
Under the agreement, the luxury brands of Hilton Conrad Hotels & Resorts, Conrad Residences and Waldorf Astoria Residences will commence operations in Greece through the upgrading of the Athens Hilton, in tandem with offering high-end residential suites.
Ionian Hotel Enterprises executives referred to a strategic investment of 130 million euros, in additional to the initial investment of around 145 million euros for the purchase of the building.
The Athens Hilton opened in 1963 as the first unit by an international hotel chain in Greece.
