Nearly 83,000 euros in counterfeit 2-euro coins seized at port of Piraeus

Custom officials in Greece on Friday announced that a large shipment of counterfeit 2-euro coins, nearly 42,000 pieces, was intercepted at the port of Piraeus this week.

The contraband was hidden into a container that had arrived at the largest Greek port from China. The bill of lading listed watches, jewelry, clothes and packaging materials as its contents.

A Chinese national with an import-export business in Greece was initially arrested, followed by a second arrest, also a PRC national.
