Olympiacos, aka “The Legend” was crowned, this time, “queen” of Europe, once again! The girls of Olympiacos in a crowded “Papastratio” arena prevailed over the mighty Sabadell in the final of the Final 4 of the Euroleague with 11-7.
The people of the Piraeus team gave the tempo in the role of driver and the players of Aleksandar Ciric once again garnered a great success. They wrote another golden page in the history of the club.
The women’s polo team of Olympiacos managed to make the whole of Greece proud, achieving something unique: Back to back European trophies! Winning the applause of the whole of Europe for the top Greek team.
But, by now, bowing to the Piraeus Club has certainly become a common practice for Europe. And this is because the red and white trophy case is full of European trophies. Let’s look at them in more detail…
Initially, the Red and Whites had already won a European Cup this season. We’re talking about the Super Cup, last November, when they prevailed over the mighty Kinef Kirisi with 14-11. At that time was also at the “Papastratio”.
But apart from the -now- two European titles, this year, in recent years the women’s polo team of Olympiacos has won the Euroleague three times (2015, 2021, 2022), once the Len Trophy (2014) and twice the European Super Cup (2015, 2021). A total of 6 European trophies!
Great successes that have magnified the Piraeus club and have turned it into a Legend of European polo. And of course a top team in Greece, but also one of the best in the history of the sport.
The titles of Olympiacos:
Euroleague: 3
Len Trophy: 1
European Super Cups: 2
Greek Championships: 12
Greek Cups: 3
Greek Super Cup: 1
