The Greek government on Monday announced which pandemic-related measures will be in effect for the Orthodox Easter holidays, beginning on Monday, April 18, and up until May 1.

Among others, people with three Covid-19 vaccinations, or two “jabs” and more than nine months since the the second injection, as well as individuals that have a confirmed positive result over the last six months will be allowed into nightclubs and music bars.

The same will apply to indoor areas of food and beverage establishments, while outdoor areas will operate on a “mixed” basis, meaning that unvaccinated people and those whose certificates have expired can sit. Nevertheless, the latter must show a negative rapid or PCR test conducted within the past 48 hours.

Church-goers can freely enter places of worship and prayer with a “vax” certification, or a certificate of previous infection or a negative PCR/rapid test. Only a negative self-test result is required of minors.

Worshippers must also wear face masks, according to the extraordinary public health law.

By most accounts, however, most parishes rarely check for certificates at church doors, while a lax enforcement of the face mask obligation has also been observed.
