Greece’s relevant shipping ministry on Monday said it was working to convene a meeting between all interested parties in order to achieve an agreement between the Piraeus Port Authority and one of the unions representing workers at the port, in order to end a strike there.
The specific union which called the industrial action at Greece’s biggest and busiest port, ENEDEP, is demanding a new collective bargaining agreement, replete with significant pay hikes, as well as the operation of a health and safety committee.
In a press release issued on Monday evening, the ministry said it is striving for a substantive and productive dialogue.
