Greece’s ambassador to Turkey, Christodoulos Lazaris, was called to the foreign ministry in Ankara late on Friday filed Turkish “displeasure” over alleged “support” by Greece towards “terrorist organizations”.
The latest annoyance cited by the increasingly authoritarian Erdogan government is a march by Kurds in Athens towards the Turkish embassy in the Greek capital.
The Turkish side referred to “PKK supporters”.
Earlier, in keeping up the crescendo of provocations and threats against EU member-state Greece, a Turkish alternate foreign minister referred to “non realistic and maximalist demands” vis-à-vis the Cyprus issue, one he claimed leave EU-Turkey relations as a “hostage”.
