Taxi fares in Greece are the latest “victim” of skyrocketing fuel prices and the accompanying surge in inflation, with the government on Friday bowing to pressure by cab owners and drivers by raising the rate to 0.9 euro per kilometer; 1.25 for fares after midnight until 5 a.m. The minimum cab ride went up to four euros.

The lump sum taxi fare from the center of Athens to the Eleftherios Venizelos International Airport rises to a “pricey” 40 euros; 55 euros after midnight. For Thessaloniki, the downtown to airport route is 25 euros; 35 after midnight.
