Members of a “blue chip” committee of epidemiologists and public health experts on Tuesday recommended to the Greek government against imposing the mandatory wearing of face masks by pupils and educators.

Schools throughout Greece are expected to open in the second week of September.

The recommendation comes as the wearing of face masks is not obligatory in other social activities.

Earlier, members of the same committee were reportedly leaning against advising that self-tests be required before the first day of school, although the issue has not yet been settled.
