The heads of state and government of nine southern European Union countries, who are scheduled to meet in Alicante, Spain on Friday for a EuroMed Summit, will reportedly express their support for Greece in the face of continuing threats by Turkish leadership, sources with the French presidency said in Paris on Wednesday.
According to the same sources, the issue of Turkish threats against Greece will be discussed at a working dinner by the leaders of Spain, France, Italy, Portugal, Cyprus, Malta, Slovenia, Croatia and Greece.
Also participating will be European Council President Charles Michel and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen.
The last EuroMed Summit, which included both European and non-European countries, was again held in Spain in 2015, while the last meeting of southern EU member-states was held in Athens last year.
