The President of the Hellenic Chamber of Hotels, Mr. Alexandros Vassilikos, was unanimously elected President of HOTREC, the Pan-European Confederation of Hotels and Catering, in the elections that took place in Stockholm.
HOTREC is the umbrella Association of Hotels, Restaurants, Bars and Cafes and similar establishments in Europe, which brings together 47 National associations in 36 countries
Immediately after his election, the President of the Hellenic Chamber of Hotels Mr. Alexandros Vassilikos made the following statement:
“It is a great honor but also a great responsibility to assume the duties of President of HOTREC, with the trust of European colleagues. An election that marks the recognition of the systematic work of the Hellenic Chamber of Hotels to represent the industry at the European level and the leading role of Greece in European tourism.
Hospitality is a major comparative advantage for the European economy, with 12 million employees in over 2,000,000 businesses, 90% of which are small and medium-sized hotels, restaurants and cafes. As is the case in Greece, hospitality is the backbone of small and medium entrepreneurship in Europe.
At a time of landmark changes for hospitality, it is our strategic priority to effectively and responsibly represent businesses in the industry in order to successfully address major issues such as inflationary pressures, energy costs and labor shortages but, unfortunately, consequences of an ongoing devastating war within Europe itself. At the same time, we are called upon to lay the foundations for a green hospitality in the years to come, so that the sector’s offer to Europe and its citizens can continue in terms of sustainability.”
