Ios emerges as a major “protagonist” in the new list published by thetravel.com regarding the fourteen best Greek islands offered to those who choose Greece for their holidays for the first time . The American travel website urges its millions of readers to visit islands with unique features in terms of beaches, activities, nightlife and local cuisine as part of their first exposure to Greece.
According to the research of the medium, Ios is an ideal destination to enjoy dreamy sandy beaches and unforgettable moments of fun, to experience experiences such as browsing the picturesque alleys and exploring paths, to admire unique sunsets and to live summer after August.
Next on the list are Zakynthos, Paros, Crete, Kefalonia, Milos, Corfu, Mykonos, Naxos, Santorini, Syros, Ithaca, Hydra and Spetses and Rhodes.
“With our eyes on new markets like the US, we are promoting Ios as a combination of natural beauty, entertainment, history, gastronomy and revitalization. It is important that last September’s traffic increased by 13.5% compared to 2019″, added the president of the Municipal Council of the Municipality of Ios, Plutonas Koritsiadis. In fact, at the international tourism exhibition ITB 2023 in Berlin, meetings were held for the Municipality by special partners, where the interest in the destination was confirmed by social media influencers and journalists active in a series of markets such as Germany, the Netherlands, France and the USA.
