
Passenger traffic at the Eleftherios Venizelos Athens International Airport was sharply up last month, by 26.8 percent compared with the same month in 2022 and by 7.6 percent compared to April 2019, the last pre-pandemic period.
The absolute number of travelers to pass through Greece’s biggest airport in April 2023 was 2,136,956.
Both domestic and international passenger traffic surpassed 2022 levels, by 20.5 percent and 29.8 percent, respectively.
Compared to the same month of 2019, domestic and international passenger traffic increased by 15.3 percent and 4.4 percent, respectively.
Over the January-April period, passenger traffic reached roughly 6.6 million, up 47.5 percent from the corresponding period in 2022 and up by 4 percent from 2019.
Domestic and international traffic was up 33.8 percent and 54.7 percent from 2022 levels, respectively, and up 5.2 percent and 3.4 percent, respectively, from 2019 levels.
The number of scheduled flights reached 59,357 in the first four months of 2023, up 19.3 percent from 2022 and 2.9 percent from the same four-month period of 2019.
Domestic flights were up 11.6 percent and 6.5 percent from 2022 and 2019, respectively, while international flights increased by 25.8 percent and 0.3 percent, respectively.
