The annual inflation rate in Greece continued to ease in June, compared to both the previous month, May 2023, as well as the corresponding month in 2022, according to preliminary data released on Friday by Eurostat.

Specifically, consumer prices in the east Mediterranean country were up by 2.7 percent in June, compared with 4.1 percent in May 2023. With the figure, Greece features in a list of countries with the lowest inflation rate in the Eurozone.

Conversely, and on an ominous note, food prices continued to increase, on an annual basis, at a rate almost four times the overall inflation rate. Specifically, in Greece the figure was at 10.4 percent in June, up from 9.8 percent in the previous month, May 2022

On an annual basis, the inflation rate throughout the Eurozone also eased, closing at 5.5 percent, down from 6.1 percent in May 2023.
