Coastal shipper Attica Group on Thursday announced the revocation of a decision allocating bonuses and share packages to top company executives, more than a week after a 36-year-old passenger was pushed off the car ramp of one of the its ferry boats by two crew-members.
The shocking incident was captured on CCTV footage – as well as mobile phone cameras – as the Blue Horizon had just cast-off lines and was disembarking the port of the Piraeus for Irakleio, Crete.
The decision to rescind the bonuses was taken by Attica Group’s board of directors. Another decision hires a consulting firm, identified as McKinsey, to assess the company’s operation and propose improvements for all vessels.
Antonis Karyotis drowned in the swirling waters only a few meters between the departing vessel and the dockside.
