Greece’s public debt, in absolute terms, reached 356.6 billion euros, or 172.6 percent of GDP, in 2022, the Hellenic Statistical Authority (EL.STAT) announced on Monday, in citing a report sent to Eurostat.
According to the statistics authority, Greece’s GDP in the same year reached 206.62 billion euros, while the general government posted a deficit of 4.9 billion euros, as based on the European System of Accounts (ESA 2010).
EL.STAT said revised and updated data showed an addition increase of 1.3 percentage points to the public debt, in other words, from 171.3 billion to 172.6 billion euros). Conversely, revised data showed that the general government deficit dropped by a marginal 0.1 percent of GDP.
