Greece’s state budget posted a primary surplus of 5.8 billion euros, on a cash basis, in the January-October 2023 period, after a primary deficit of 859 million euros in the corresponding period in 2022, the Bank of Greece announced on Friday.

The country’s central bank said the cash result of the central administration posted a surplus of 93 million euros, after a deficit of 6.399 billion in the corresponding period last year.

This results reflects, in large part, rising revenue of the regular budget. The latter totaled 50.714 billion euros so far in 2023, compared to 44.948 billion euros in 2022. Regular budget spending reached 47.811 billion euros, down from 48.965 billion euros in 2022.
