Self-employed professionals in Greece have been given an extension, until Sept. 2, to connect their professional bank account with the IRIS inter-bank payment system – which for the most part is still free in the country.
Greece’s independent tax bureau, AADE, announced the two-day deadline extension this week, given that the previous deadline of Aug. 31 fell on a Saturday.
The tax bureau said nearly 300,000 tax code holders are obliged to link with the IRIS system, which the finance ministry stressed – in an announcement this week – saying this system entails lower costs and accelerated transactions for both consumers and professionals.
