As the holiday season kicks into high gear, Greece’s festive shopping schedule is now in full effect. Stores and supermarkets across the country are operating extended hours, offering ample opportunities for holiday shopping. Here’s a breakdown of the schedule to help you plan your visits.
General Store Hours
From December 12 to January 2, stores will follow the festive hours outlined below:
- Monday to Saturday: Open from 9 am to 9 pm.
- Sundays (Dec. 15, 22, and 29): Open from 11 am to 6:00 pm
Special Dates
- Christmas Eve (Dec. 24): Stores will operate until 6 pm.
- New Year’s Eve (Dec. 31): Stores will also close at 6 pm.
- Holidays (Dec. 25, Dec. 26, and Jan. 1): All stores will remain closed.
- Jan. 2: Stores will stay closed for post-holiday restocking.
Supermarket Hours
Supermarkets are also open on select Sundays this holiday season—Dec. 15, Dec. 22, and Dec. 29—to accommodate shoppers preparing for festive meals. On these Sundays, supermarkets will operate from 11 am to 8 pm.
Mall Hours
Shopping malls will follow similar extended hours, opening daily from 11 am to 8 pm, including Sundays.
