Athens will see changes to public transport schedules over the August 15 holiday, a major public holiday in Greece, affecting metro, tram, bus, and trolley services. The adjustments will also apply on the day before, with reduced frequency already in place due to summer staffing levels.
Metro Line 1 (Green Line)
From Monday, August 11 to Sunday, August 17, trains will run every 12.5 minutes, including on Friday, August 15. Services between 05:00–05:30 and 23:30–01:00 will operate every 15 minutes.
Metro Line 2 (Red Line)
From August 11 to 15, trains will run every 9.5–11 minutes between 07:00–22:00, and every 12.5 minutes outside those hours. From August 15 to 17, all services will run every 15 minutes. Late-night Friday and Saturday services will also run every 15 minutes.
From August 11 to 14, trains will run every 8.5–10 minutes until 22:00, and every 11.5 minutes afterward. From August 15 to 17, trains will operate every 10 minutes between 08:00–22:00, and every 11.5 minutes at other times. Airport services will run every 36 minutes daily.
Buses and Trolleys
Athens buses and trolleys will continue their summer timetable until schools reopen. On Friday, August 15, they will follow the Sunday and public holiday schedule. Passengers can check live schedules via the OASA Telematics app or telematics.oasa.gr.
Tram
From August 11 to 17, trams will run every 15 minutes. Late-night services on Fridays and Saturdays will operate every 25 minutes.
Suburban Railway (Proastiakos)
The suburban railway will maintain its regular timetable. No service suspensions have been announced for August 15.
