Karalis Takes 2nd at Silesia Diamond League with Six-Meter Vault

Emmanouíl Karalís claimed second place at the 12th Diamond League event of the 2025 season in Silesia, Poland. The Greek athlete cleared six meters on his first attempt, marking the 10th time in his career—and the ninth in 2025—that he surpassed the six-meter barrier.

Karalís then attempted to set a new Greek national record at 6.10 meters but failed to clear the height after three tries. Remarkably, he had not missed a single attempt until that point, underscoring his excellent competitive form.

Earlier this month, Karalís vaulted 6.08 meters before a home crowd in Greece. His next competitions are scheduled for August 19 in Lausanne and August 28 in Zurich for the Diamond League Final, which will serve as his final test before the World Championships in Tokyo.

Duplantis Secures Victory

The event was won by Sweden’s Armand “Mondo” Duplantis, the Olympic gold medalist from Paris, who cleared 6.10 meters on his second attempt. He later failed to clear 6.20 meters after three tries.

In the progression of the competition, Karalís cleared 5.70 meters on his first attempt and skipped 5.80 meters. France’s Renaud Lavillenie cleared 5.80 meters, while Duplantis opted to bypass 5.90 meters after a missed jump, moving directly to six meters. Both Karalís and Duplantis then cleared six meters on their first attempts, before Karalís moved the bar to 6.10 meters in pursuit of a national record.

Duplantis, meanwhile, entered at 6.10 meters and succeeded on his second attempt, securing victory. Just days earlier, he had broken the pole vault world record for the 13th time, clearing 6.29 meters.
