Aegean: 2Q Net Income Up 24% Amid Strategic Advancements

Aegean Airlines announced H1 2025 and Q2 2025 results on Tuesday, saying it offered 9.4 million seats during the period, or 5%, more compared to the first half of 2024, and carrying 7.6 million passengers, an increase of 4% compared to the corresponding period of 2024.

According to a press release, “consolidated revenue for the second quarter amounted to 480.9 million euros, while EBITDA reached 112.4 million euros. Net profit after tax stood at 54.5 million euros, up from 43.9 million euros, in the second quarter of 2024. Cash and cash equivalents, including financial assets, increased to 841.9 million euros as of June 30, 2025 compared to 769.1 million euros on December 31,2024, despite the payment of a 72.1-million-euros dividend to shareholders on May 26, 2025.”

Strategic partnership with IndiGo
The results coincided with news that Aegean will commence new routes to India, expanding its network beyond Europe and the Middle East.

Citing March 2026 as a milestone, Greece’s national announced a strategic partnership with IndiGo, India’s largest airline, signing a memorandum that paves the way for code-sharing flights.

The move marks the first major opening of Greek airline to a market with great potential, such as India, Aegean said.

At the same time, Aegean Airlines president Eftychis Vassilakis reminded that the full exploitation of the codeshare agreement between the two companies requires that travel visa issues be resolved in a timely manner, which at present, “require time-consuming and complicated procedures for Indian citizens who want to visit the country.”

“The visa issue is crucial – the procedures are slow and the staff is insufficient. If staff and procedural issues are not resolved, the project will encounter difficulties and no one will choose to travel,” he said.

On his part, Pieter Elbers, CEO of IndiGo, said the “visa is what will determine the success or failure of the venture.”
