Theaters across the country will remain closed on Saturday, December 27, as actors and musicians take part in a nationwide strike during the holiday period, leading to the cancellation of scheduled performances.
The strike was called by the union representing Greek actors and is supported by musicians and other theater professionals. Workers are protesting what they describe as the refusal of theater management to engage in meaningful dialogue and sign a collective labor agreement that would regulate pay and working conditions.
Musicians’ representatives confirmed their participation, stressing that the action is a joint effort by all unions active in the theater sector. The strike is also backed by a broader federation representing workers in live performance and entertainment.
Audience members who had purchased tickets for performances scheduled on the strike day will be able to exchange them, according to organizers.
