Shops and supermarkets in Greece will remain open on Saturday, Dec. 27, and Sunday, Dec. 28, under the holiday season trading hours currently in effect.
According to the recommended schedule, stores are expected to operate from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday, while on Sunday trading hours are set from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., although minor variations may apply for some retail chains.
Stores will be closed on New Year’s Day, Jan. 1, as well as on Jan. 2, which has been designated as an annual inventory day for businesses.
The holiday trading schedule is as follows:
Saturday, Dec. 27, 2025: 9 a.m. – 6 p.m.
Sunday, Dec. 28, 2025: 11 a.m. – 6 p.m.
Monday, Dec. 29, 2025: 9 a.m. – 9 p.m.
Tuesday, Dec. 30, 2025: 9 a.m. – 9 p.m.
Wednesday, Dec. 31, 2025: 9 a.m. – 6 p.m.
Thursday, Jan. 1, 2026: Public holiday
Friday, Jan. 2, 2026: Closed
The Athens Chamber of Commerce said the schedule is indicative and optional, noting that retailers may adjust opening hours at their discretion.
