Greece’s Independent Authority for Public Revenue (AADE) brings its new digital structure into force today, activating the General Directorate of Digital Services and Systems and formally integrating Artificial Intelligence units into its operational chart. The changes were approved earlier this year but take effect as of Monday.

The reorganization replaces the former e‑Government directorate and consolidates AADE’s digital platforms, development teams and data systems under a single umbrella. According to the Authority, the aim is to streamline internal workflows and improve coordination across tax‑related digital services.

AI units now formally operational

With the new structure active, AADE’s dedicated AI department begins official operation. Its role includes setting standards for AI use, developing applications for risk analysis and supporting automated cross‑checks already used in audits. The Authority has been gradually expanding data‑driven tools in recent years; today’s activation marks the first time these functions appear as distinct units in AADE’s organizational chart.

What changes for taxpayers

For citizens and businesses, the shift is expected to affect the backend of AADE’s systems rather than the front‑end experience. Digital services such as myAADE and myDATA continue as normal, though the Authority says the new structure will allow faster updates, improved interoperability with other public bodies and more consistent use of tax data.

Background

AADE has been rolling out digital upgrades for more than a decade, including electronic bookkeeping, automated cross‑checks and expanded online services. The latest reorganization is part of a broader effort to align the Authority’s internal structure with the technological tools it already uses, as well as those planned for future deployment.
