The European Commission Pavilion, at the 85th Thessaloniki International Fair, was visited by Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis. He was received by Commission Vice-President Margaritis Schoinas, Commissioner Nicholas Smith in charge of Employment and Social Rights, Minister of Civil Protection Christos Stylianidis, Deputy Foreign Minister Miltiadis Varvitsiotis and deputy Civil Protection Minister Evangelos Tournas.
Mr. Schoinas and Mr. Smith briefed the Prime Minister on the Recovery Plan and showed him relevant pictures that had been posted on boards.
In the first board there were photos with helicopters that are used during the interventions in cases of natural disasters and as soon as Mr. Mitsotakis saw them, he commented that Mr. Stylianidis knows them very well, since as the competent Commissioner he designed the European system of civil protection.
“Whatever we showed him, the prime minister knew everything,” Mr Margaritis said.
Commissioner Smith praised Mr. Mitsotakis for the Greek programs, noting that it is one of the best in the European Union.
