Greek anti-terrorist authorities on Monday announced the arrest of a 34-year-old man in Athens, identified as an Iraqi national, on charges of being a member of the Islamic terrorist group ISIS.
According to a later announcement, information supplied by foreign intelligence services was exploited to lead to the suspect.
Other media reports in Athens the same day claimed the man clandestinely entered Greece from Turkey in 2018 with his wife and four children. He was subsequently turned down twice for political asylum in the country.
Authorities reportedly found incriminating evidence on his cell phone, namely, video footage showing him participating in terrorist activities.
