The Greek government is reportedly considering allocating a greater energy subsidy to SMEs and eligible households in order to deflect what’s expected to be a coming wave of rate hikes.
According to reports, the government is eyeing a subsidy of 39 to 45 euros per month for eligible consumers, at least for the current month and December 2021.
Sources close to the government said the subsidy will affect consumption of up to 300 kWh per month.
Current qualitative estimates point to an increase of between 110 to 150 percent in relation to the modest 18 euros offered as a subsidy against October’s bill.
