The project for the water supply of Corfu is included in the Recovery Fund.

In particular, the Corfu MP of the New Democracy party, Stefanos Gikas, had a meeting with the Minister of Infrastructure and Transport, Costas Karamanlis, yesterday, with the sole object of discussion being the Corfu Island Water Supply Project.

The Minister announced to Mr. Gikas that the projects of phases C and D, which include the construction of the Melissoudi and Kalamiotissa Dams, with a budget of € 250 million, have been officially included in the Recovery and Resilience Plan “Greece 2.0” and will therefore be financed. from the European Recovery Fund. In addition, in order to carry out the projects through PPPs, as planned, in the coming days the project will be passed by the competent Interministerial PPP Committee.

Concession for 30 years

The project will be granted to the contractor for 30 years, of which three years are calculated as a construction period and 27 years as a period of operation and maintenance of the infrastructure.

Regarding the construction project of the Water Softening Facility (EAN) of Chrysiida and the accompanying projects, with a budget of 29.1 million euros, Mr. Karamanlis informed the MP that there is already a temporary contractor and the process is progressing normally.

It is worth noting that Mr. Karamanlis is expected to visit Corfu in the near future, in order to visit the areas where the major water supply projects will take place.
