Pair of Turkish F-16s engage in multiple airspace violations on Mon.

A pair of Turkish F-16 warplanes were identified on Monday, according to Greek military sources, as engaging in airspace violations and Athens FIR infringements in two separate regions in the extreme eastern Aegean, with the intruders first flying over the small but populated isles of Leipsoi, Arkoi and Farmakonisi.

The same pair of US-made planes was latter detected flying over the northeast corner of the larger island of Hios, to the north, minutes before 17.00 Athens time and at an altitude of 25,000 feet.

The first intrusion – between Leipsoi , Arkoi and Farmakonisi – was timed at roughly 240 seconds, as the Turkish warplanes ostensibly aimed to avoid any engagement with Greek fighters planes that would have scrambled to identify and intercept them.
