The increase in coronavirus cases, in Greece, observed in recent days is “expected” and “reasonable”, according to the president of hospital doctors’ union EINAP Matina Pagoni.
Speaking to SKAI television she opined that ups and downs will continue in the coming days and that what matters is how the indicators of deaths and intubations will move.
Variants 4 and 5
Ms. Pagoni explained that in recent days, variants 4 and 5 of the coronavirus have been identified in Attica and in many cities in Crete.
Variant 4 is more contagious and may have more severe symptoms, as patients receiving antiviral therapy and returning home develop fevers of as high as 39 to 40 C.
We took off masks too soon
The president of EINAP estimated that “we took off the masks early” and that they should have been made mandatory indoors until July 10.
Shee called on citizens to wear masks where there is congestion, adding that the past two years have shown that the mask protected not only from the coronavirus but also from the flu.
Matina Pagoni for office?
Ms. Pagoni did not rule out the possibility of being a candidate MP in the next national elections.
“No, I do not rule anything out,” she told reporters, but hastened to clarify that it is not a discussion at this time and that she is and remains a doctor.
