The Athens Stock Exchange (ASE) remained above the 870-point mark on Wednesday, despite early trading pressure, as the general index gained a paltry 0.05 percent to end at 870.24.

Turnover totaled a moderate 71 million euros during the day’s trading, with positive quarterly reports by listed systemic banks off-setting a very fragile outlook in international money markets and bourses.

Construction contractor Ellaktor led gainers with its share rising by 5.86 percent, followed by power utility PPC with 4.20 percent.

On the downside, the water and sewage utility for the greater Athens area, EYDAP, was the top loser of the day, falling by 2.24 percent.
