Salaries of wage-earners in Greece improved in 2022, according to figures released this month, while the number of employed people in the country now earning more than 700 euros a month also increased. As expected, the number of employees earning less than 700 euros a month decreased.
Based on figures released by a labor ministry electronic platform measuring employment, nearly 270,000 people were able to exceed the 700-euro threshold in 2022, compared to 2021.
An auspicious reduction, by 17.2 percent, was also reported in the number of part-time wage-earners making less than 500 euros a month.
Conversely, only a “select” group of roughly 72,000 full-time employees in the country is shown as exceeding 3,000 euros a month. This figure doesn’t include self-employed professionals, craftsmen, business owners and shopkeepers, among others.
The biggest bloc of wage-earners in Greece, nearly 377,000 people, or 16.74 percent of the total number of wage-earning employees, is paid between 701 and 800 euros per month.
The average monthly remuneration for wage-earners in the country for last year is 1,176.5 euros, up from 1,117 euros in 2021 and 1,046.3 euros for 2019.
The biggest increase, an eyebrow-raising 39.6 percent, from 2021 to 2022 is found in the 701 to 1,000-euro category, with approximately 254,000 wage-earners added.
