
The Piraeus Port Authority S.A. (PPA) on Friday released financial results for 2022, which showed higher turnover during the year compared to 2021, namely, 194.6 million euros to 154.2 million euros, an increase of 40.4 million euros or 26.2 percent.
Profits before taxes reached 74.7 million euros, compared to 49.2 million euros in 2021, an increase of 51.7 percent. After-tax profits reached to 52.9 million euros, an increase of 43.9 percent compared to 2021.
The port authority’s Cosco-controlled management proposed a dividend per share of 1.04 euros, higher by 65 percent compared to 0.63 euros per share in 2021.
2022 witnessed the full recovery of the cruise ship sector, both in terms of port calls and passenger traffic. Total passenger traffic in 2022 exceeded 880,000, compared nearly 304,000 in 2021, an increase of 190 percent.
Cruise ship arrivals increased by 79 percent, with 677 berths compared to 379 the year before – surpassing even pre-pandemic levels.
