Registered unemployment totaled nearly 927,000 persons in April 2023, a figure that is down by 7.1 percent – or 70,529 individuals – compared with the corresponding month of 2022.
The number of registered jobless people also fell by 10.4 percent – 107,787 individuals – compared to the immediately preceding month, March 2023, the relevant state agency reported on Friday.
According to a report by the Public Employment Agency, 517,698 people (55.8 percent) are long-term unemployed, with women accounting for 65 percent.
The 30-44 age group posts the largest number of unemployed (305,630 or 32.9 percent). In terms of regions, the greater Athens-Piraeus area and central Macedonia have the highest number of unemployed (309,582 and 181,876, respectively).
Finally, more than 55,400 people were eligible and received unemployment benefit last month.
