The president of Greece’s ag ministry-affiliated scientific and technical support organization (Elgo-Dimitra), Prof. Serkos Haroutounian, has been elected as the first vice-president of the European Commission on Agriculture’s (ECA) executive committee.
ECA is a regional affiliate of the UN’s Food Agricultural Organization (FAO).
The unanimous election, among 56 national delegates of European and Central Asia member-states, came during 43rd ECA summit late last month in Budapest.
Haroutounian is a professor of chemistry at the Agricultural University of Athens, where he also previously served as the vice-rector.
