A legal challenge filed by the Vinci-Mytilineos consortium against the tender result for the concession of the Attiki Odos tollway in the greater Athens area has been reportedly rejected by the Council of State (CoS), Greece’s highest administrative court.
Greece’s privatization agency, the Hellenic Republic Asset Development Fund (HRADF), has declared GEK Terna as the preferred investor after the latter submitted the highest bid of 3.27 billion euros in September 2023.
The Attiki Odos tollway runs for 70 kilometers across the breadth of the greater Athens agglomeration.
The Vinci-Mytilineos had bid 3.106 billion euros and subsequently took recourse to the CoS.
Meanwhile, in a related development, GEK Terna was declared the provisional concessionaire for the Hania-Irakleio portion of the ambitious north Crete highway axis, according to a decision by the transport ministry’s political leadership.
A consortium comprised of Aktor Concessions and Mytilineos was runner-up in the second phase of a relevant international tender.
