Greece’s trade deficit decreased by 13.6% in September 2025, according to the Hellenic Statistical Authority (ELSTAT). The decline was driven by an increase in export value and a decrease in import value.
The total value of imports in September 2025 was €6.921 billion, down from €7.178 billion in September 2024, representing a 3.6% decrease.
Excluding petroleum products, imports increased by €187.2 million (3.5%), while excluding both petroleum products and ships, imports rose by €201.2 million (3.8%) compared to the same month in 2024.
During the period from January to September 2025, total imports reached €60.474 billion, down from €63.083 billion in the same period in 2024, representing a 4.1% decline.
Total exports for January–September 2025 amounted to €36.060 billion (€40.427 billion USD), compared to €37.844 billion in the same period of 2024, a 4.7% fall.
However, exports excluding petroleum products rose by €776 million (2.9%), and those excluding petroleum products and ships increased by €825.8 million (3.1%) compared to the same period in 2024.
The trade deficit for January–September 2025 stood at €24.414 billion, compared to €25.239 billion in the same period of 2024, marking a 3.3% decrease.
