The request followed a relevant initiative by the EU’s French presidency, with Italy, Belgium, the Netherlands, Denmark, Germany, Cyprus and Malta subsequently making the same request.
The Greek-flagged vessel, with six Greek nationals aboard, is reportedly docked in the Odessa-area port of Yuzhe, and is prevented from sailing by Ukrainian naval officials due to the war.
According to the latest figures of pre-bookings and information released by port authorities – especially the Piraeus Port Authority – 752 vessels have already requested docking rights in 2022, a number only in the latter.
The vessel has a length of 274 meters and was built at the New Times Shipbuilding yard
