The world’s first ocean-going vessel able to also “burn” ammonia as a fuel source will feature on the Greek registry, as the Kriti Future was recently delivered to Avin International Ltd. with a Greek flag hoisted from its mast.

The vessel has a length of 274 meters and was built at the New Times Shipbuilding yard.

At present, the vessel is still propelled by using conventional fuel, but also complies with ABS Ammonia Ready Level 1 specifications, allowing for the use of ammonia any time in the future.

Additionally, the Kriti Future also meets ABS LNG Fuel Ready Level 1 specifications.

An Ammonia Fuel Ready Level 1 distinction means the vessel complies with requirements stipulated in the ABS Guide for Gas and Other Low-Flashpoint Fuel Ready Vessels.
