Kyriakos Mitsotakis referred to the two biggest mistakes of the two years of his rule, during the press conference at the Thessaloniki International Fair .

Answering a question about the mistakes he has made as prime minister, he said that “I have not hesitated, when things have not gone well, to acknowledge them publicly”, while he then referred to two incidents.

Initially, he admitted as a mistake the late closure of Thessaloniki in the second wave of the pandemic. “I consider it a mistake that we did not quarantine Thessaloniki a week before we did,” he said characteristically.

He then referred to the mistakes made in dealing with fires.

“No one is infallible,” he said, adding that “he who does not make mistakes is the one who does nothing” to conclude that the question is whether “can we learn from our mistakes?”

Finally, he concluded that self-criticism exists and “we must bear the political cost with courage.”
