Billionaire metals trader Telis Mistakidis is reportedly among the new shareholders of ocean-going shipper Union Maritime, along with a handful of other new investors in the company.
According to Tradewinds, besides Mistakidis Greece-based shipbrokers Cass Technova and Spring Marine Management also invested in Union Maritime.
Union Maritime is controlled by the Cadji and Kansagra families, but features numerous lesser minority shareholders in subsidiaries.
The semi-retired and Swiss-based Mistakidis, a former top executive of Glencore, is worth 2.7 billion USD, according to Forbes.
