In the context of the discussion on the bill of the Ministry of Health, Kyriakos Mitsotakis took to the podium.
The Prime Minister announced, on the day of World AIDS Day, the decision of the government to legislate the full integration in the intangible-electronic prescription of the HIV-positive patients receiving antiretroviral treatment and to give admission to citizens infected with HIV or hepatitis B and follow specific treatment, in the context of the policy to remove all discrimination against HIV-positive people and to facilitate their treatment.
For the measure of compulsory vaccination
The Prime Minister noted that the measure of compulsory vaccination was necessary and stressed that this word is stronger than the word compulsory. The Prime Minister stressed that this measure also comes in view of the effects of the Omicron variant.
He spoke of the proportionality of the measure, but also of the determination of the government. The Prime Minister said that he was very concerned about this decision, as he is a liberal politician.
I prefer to look temporarily strict, but later to look correct health-wise, stressed Kyriakos Mitsotakis.
9 out of 10 who die belong to this age category, said the Prime Minister, while the same applies to those who are intubated.
Why now, the prime minister wondered and replied that we still do not know the effects of the Omicron variant.
Kyriakos Mitsotakis stressed that in the last month only 70 thousand of this age group made appointments for vaccination.
The Prime Minister reiterated that the measure is proportionate.
For the 100 euros as a fine, he noted that only this gives a mandatory character to the specific regulation. It is very easy not to pay the fine, as long as you are vaccinated. The fine is much lower than in other countries. It is a serious disincentive to disease and pain, the prime minister said.
On the third installment
The Prime Minister then referred to the measures taken by the government to protect public health, while emphasizing that our country was the first to open the third, commemorative installment to all. If we can, in fact, see if we can open the third installment in all four months.
Extending the obligation
Mr. Mitsotakis said that our actions must be proportionate. “The ICUs are not full of soldiers and police, they are full of elderly people,” the prime minister stressed.
