The growth rate of the Greek economy may exceed the projected 4.5% of the year, Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis said on Wednesday, adding that the country expects a successful tourist season if there are no complications with the pandemic.

Asked if the government was keeping its forecast for 4.5% growth in 2022, the prime minister said in an interview with Reuters Next that “it could be even higher”.

“If we assume that there are no significant complications with the pandemic, if we assume that the pandemic will gradually reach its end during the first six months of 2022, I am very optimistic about the prospects of the Greek economy.”
